Why I Started But Stopped Watching Duck Dynasty Before the Rant

I am a big reality show watcher. Yes, I hate to admit it. I catch myself watching yes, the Kardashians, Love and Hip Hop, Housewives of Atlanta, etc. Often, I also find myself turning away shaking my head. Well, just like the shows above, I am intrigued by the characters on another popular reality show, Duck Dynasty. It is interesting to see a close encounter on how someone else lives or an appearance of their life. I like the Robertson family interaction, biblical references, and even their adventures at work and play. And, Phil Robertson is one of my favorite of the clan. When I did watch, I was often asked why by family members. One day I was at a meeting and saw a young man holding a book about the Robertsons. I commented that I watch the show. I wandered what the young man thought when he looked at me, an African American female, early 40s, and interested in Duck Dynasty. He resembled the Robertson's in appearance with a little less beard.  Another day, I checked out a Duck Dynasty video and had this same thought concerning what impression I was giving.  Well, an answer to why I was interested in Duck Dynasty was that I can relate to the Robertsons because I am a Christian and a country girl (non-hunting, non-shooting, and non-white) but yet still Christian country girl.  The one issue I did see with the Robertson's is their use of the word redneck. This term has never had a positive use in my existence. Really in my upbringing it has been synonymous with don't like black people along with the other stereotypes. Surely the Robertsons as Christians know this but maybe it did not matter to them if I got that impression that they did not like people of other races. Even as Christians, we have shortcomings. Unfortunately, the Robertson's have chosen to be in the limelight. As Christians we are to represent Christ and minister to others with our lives as much as our teachings (talking).   So in my sometimes view and sometimes click away moments with the Khardashians, Love and Hip Hop, Housewives ..., I added Duck Dynasty to the list.  By the way, this was before Mr. Robertson's statements for GQ. My thoughts on that. Well, I also decided that we Christians should stop giving our opinions for people to get upset about. We should stick with strategically quoting scripture. People don't have to argue with me; they can argue with the Bible (KJV):
